We thought you might like to know more about how Biosil® can improve your life today. So here are some helpful facts, meaningful advice, and supportive insights.

Your “Beauty-Youth-Health” connection
If you’ve ever suspected that there was a link between beauty, youth, and health – you’re right. It’s now considered a medical fact! The leading factor connecting all three is the “quantity and quality” of your body’s collagen. Consider skin. During youth, you have a rich abundance of collagen “bundled” in a tight mesh. That’s why young skin looks so beautifully smooth, hydrated, and firm, not to mention healthy. Moreover, youthful skin functions with maximum efficiency (remember, your skin is an organ). The same beauty-youth-health connections apply to your hair and nails because they are only as healthy as the skin they grow from.

And did you know collagen plays an extremely important role in your bones, tendons, ligaments, cartilage, arteries, heart, liver, lungs, kidneys, and other organs as well? So having a high quality and quantity of collagen matters for your beauty and health!

How much collagen do I have?
Collagen is the most abundant protein in your body. The amount you currently have depends on a variety of genetic, lifestyle, and environmental factors as well as your age. Estimates vary, but as a figure to start the conversation, collagen generally makes up about 5% of the weight of an average healthy young adult.

How much collagen do I need to generate each day?
Your collagen is constantly under attack. You lose some every day! Fortunately, you can make new collagen daily to rejuvenate yourself. The process is called collagen metabolism and is very dynamic. A group of top European researchers now estimate your body must make 1 pound of new collagen about every five days to properly repair itself.

Does my collagen diminish with age?
Unfortunately, most adults don’t generate enough new collagen to replace the collagen they are losing. Partially because around age 21, collagen production begins to decrease at a rate of 1% per year. In addition, each year, life probably exposes you to more “collagen destroyers” such as homocysteine, stress hormones such as cortisol, glycation (sugar damage) as well as free radicals and other oxidative stressors.

This combination of less collagen production and increased collagen loss deteriorates your collagen networks throughout your body. Diminishing collagen levels are often visible by age 30, as the barely visible fine lines characteristic of youthful skin become wider and deeper, developing into more noticeable wrinkles. As collagen levels continue to decrease, skin becomes thinner, weaker, duller, and less elastic.

The effect on joints may be noticed through discomfort or reduced functionality. What happens to bones can be measured by bone collagen formation tests such as P1NP (Procollagen type 1 N-terminal Propeptide) and over time with Bone Mineral Density (BMD) testing.
Collagen statistics

  • Collagen decreases an average of 1% per year, starting at age 21
  • A woman’s skin decreases in thickness (caused by loss of collagen) by about 7% every ten years
  • In the first five years following menopause, it’s common for women to lose 30% of their skin collagen
  • The decrease in skin collagen correlates with decreases in bone mineral density

Can Biosil® really generate collagen?
The answer is yes. Biosil®’s patented ch-OSA® turns on the collagen-generating fibroblasts by activating key enzymes required to make collagen. Biosil®’s unique physiological activity is exactly why you add new collagen.† Biosil® also helps increase keratin and elastin levels in your body.†

Can Biosil® help protect both my new and existing collagen from breaking down?
Yes. Biosil® not only adds collagen but helps protect your new and existing collagen.† How? The first thing you should know is that everybody makes an amino acid called homocysteine. Collagen researchers refer to homocysteine as “the anti-collagen amino acid.” That’s because it tears down collagen fibers. Worse, it interferes with the production of new collagen. Moreover, homocysteine levels rise with age as our bodies become less efficient at neutralizing it.
Here’s the good news. The choline portion of Biosil®’s ch-OSA® complex neutralizes the damaging effect of homocysteine, giving you the ability to keep the new collagen that Biosil® generates, as well as your existing pre-Biosil® collagen.

Also, everyone makes a stress hormone called cortisol. Like homocysteine, cortisol destroys existing collagen and suppresses new collagen production. Emerging research suggests that Biosil®’s choline helps regulate cortisol levels, as well.†

What do you mean with Biosil® has a 2-in-1 effect?
Biosil®’s two-in-one effect increases collagen levels both by activating the pathways that produce collagen and also by protecting existing collagen from degradation.†

What proof do I have that Biosil®’s collagen generators work?
Meaningful proof of Biosil®’s effects on skin, hair, nails, bones, and joints comes from university-conducted, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled human clinical trials published in top peer-reviewed medical journals - the highest or gold standard for clinical studies.†

There is a major difference between the phrases “clinically proven” and “clinically tested.” Any product can be tested in a clinical setting, but only those products that show statistically significant results may use the phrase “clinically proven.” And we’re proud to say that Biosil® is clinically proven in double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trials.

When do I start seeing results?
This is a two-part question. The first is: how soon does Biosil® start working? The second is: how long does it take until the results become visible?

You’ll be happy to know that Biosil® starts working from day one. From the very first dose, Biosil® activates your collagen-generating enzymes and begins adding new collagen.† It doesn’t matter how much collagen you’ve lost to date.

The timeline below is developed from a combination of clinical trial results, learnings from case studies, and customer feedback. Factors like age, diet, genetics, exercise habits, and other lifestyle factors can affect how quickly you will see results with Biosil®. Some people will be fast responders, many will find they are average responders, and others will be slow responders.

Immediately, the ch-OSA® complex is released into your blood and absorbed for use by your collagen-producing cells.†
Your cells are triggered to start producing more collagen, elastin, and keratin for use everywhere in your body.†
Faster growing nails are one of the first improvements many people say they notice.†
More voluminous, faster-growing, and lustrous hair is commonly reported in the second month.†
Glowing, brighter, more luminous skin can happen within three months for some people, according to reviews.†
Biosil® reduces joint discomfort, increases mobility and range of flexibility, and improves cartilage condition after three months, according to a clinical study on men with knee discomfort.†2
Biosil® significantly improves wrinkles and fine lines, as well as skin elasticity in this timeframe, according to a clinical study.†(1)
Biosil® reduces nail brittleness after 20 weeks (1) and reduces vertical lines and roughness after six months (5), according to clinical studies.†
Biosil® strengthens, thickens, and elasticizes hair after nine months, according to a clinical study.†(4)
Biosil® increases bone collagen production and improves bone density in the femur at the hip region after 12 months, according to a clinical study.†(3)

What should I expect?
Please understand that each person is different. How fast you will see results depends on several variables, such as age, genetics, diet, lifestyle habits, and more. That being said, these are average time frames that we can share with you.

What to expect: your HAIR
Just like your nails, your hair grows every day. Without Biosil®, a person’s hair grows, on average, about 0.4 inches in a month. Again, age, genetics, and environmental influences account for differences in growth rates. Biosil® is clinically proven to increase hair thickness by 12.8% and increase hair strength by 13.1% after 36 weeks.†(4)

The question is, when do you first start noticing the effects? If your hair grows at the average rate, then somewhere around week 8 you’ll have almost an entire inch of new thicker, stronger Biosil® hair (measuring from your scalp upwards). You should already notice it has more body and is more break resistant.†

Interestingly, an overwhelming majority of people we speak with report Biosil® makes their hair grow much faster, as well. If that’s true in your case, you should notice results a little sooner.†
And although researchers didn’t measure hair shine in the clinical trials, we hear over and over that Biosil® adds a radiant shine to hair. And we’re not surprised. Because Biosil® helps pack more keratin into the hair shaft, smoothing the surface and making it more light-reflective.†
It all adds up to beautiful, luxurious-looking locks!

What to expect: your SKIN
The Biosil® clinical trials proved that Biosil® reduces the depth of fine lines and wrinkles by 30% and increases that all-important skin elasticity by 89%.†(1)

These measurements were taken at 20 weeks. But that doesn’t mean there were no improvements between week 0 and week 20. Quite the opposite!

Remember, Biosil® starts working from day one. The results you should notice before week 20 depend on several factors. In addition to the standard variables we mentioned, there’s also the depth of wrinkles to consider for skin. But you should feel very encouraged. Because the women who participated in the Biosil® clinical trials on skin, all had sun damage.

Women who are fast responders tell us they notice results in their skin by week 16. Medium responders report results in week 20. Slow responders report week 30. But in the end, the time it takes doesn’t matter. What does matter is that Biosil® gives you more beautiful, youthful, and healthy-looking skin.†

What to expect: your NAILS
As you know, your nails grow every single day. Although growth rates vary from person to person, the average rate is approximately 0.12 inches a month. So, let’s say your nails are half an inch long. That means in 60 days, 50% of the surface of each nail would be “Biosil®nails”. And just like the women in our clinical trial, you’ll be well on your way to strong, even-toned, clear, smooth, and fabulous nails. It’s interesting to note that many women tell us that improvement in their nails is the very first thing they notice.† It’s very satisfying and proof that Biosil® is hard at work!

What to expect: your BONES
The Biosil® clinical trials proved that Biosil® combined with calcium and vitamin D increased bone mineral density of the femur at the hip region a clinically relevant 2% while also elevating bone collagen formation by 15% over just one year, compared to women who took only calcium and vitamin D.† How?

Did you know that bone collagen acts as the “binding sites” for all calcium? For the calcium you eat to become part of the bone, it must bind to your bone collagen. That’s why age-related reduction in bone collagen can cause diminished bone mineral density. Even more important, collagen is what gives bone its vital pliability. And pliability gives your bones the ability to withstand physical stress.

That’s why you need both calcium and collagen for healthy bones. Consider this quote from the U.S. government’s National Institutes of Health (NIH):
“Bone … is made mostly of collagen, a protein that provides a soft framework, and calcium phosphate, a mineral that adds strength and hardens the framework. This combination of collagen and calcium makes bone both flexible and strong, which in turn helps bone to withstand stress.”

It’s a good thing that you now have Biosil®, clinically proven to increase bone collagen formation and bone mineral density!†

What to expect: your JOINTS
A joint consists of four main components: bones, cartilage, ligaments, and tendons. That’s why joint researchers and specialists now call collagen the most important component of your joints. Yes, collagen! Your bones are dependent on collagen for strength and flexibility. Your cartilage is made mostly out of collagen. Your ligaments are made mostly out of collagen, and your tendons are also made mostly out of collagen. As collagen diminishes with age, it can weaken one, or all four, causing joint damage.

The good news is that Biosil® is clinically proven to increase collagen formation.† A clinical study showed men with knee discomfort improved the condition of their cartilage, reduced discomfort, improved their range of motion, and were able to better perform daily tasks after just 12 weeks of use.†(2)

Why can’t I just eat collagen to gain collagen?
Good question! Many brands will try to make you believe you can. But unlike vitamin C, which you can simply take to increase vitamin C levels throughout your body, collagen is completely different. Collagen is a protein, just like chicken, fish, or steak. When you ingest collagen, your body recognizes it as any other protein and breaks it down to use as food to use however it sees fit. When you want the real beauty (and other) benefits of collagen, you must activate enzymes to generate your collagen. Eating collagen doesn’t activate collagen-generating enzymes. Nor does eating collagen protect your existing collagen. Luckily, Biosil® is clinically proven to generate and protect your own collagen.†

Just as important, Biosil® contains no animal parts or sea organisms whatsoever. It’s 100% vegan. The collagen you gain with Biosil® is generated through your body’s own natural pathways. That’s why it’s collagen with your own DNA fingerprint!†

Do I have to take Biosil® with meals?

Why is the dose of Biosil® Drops for bones less than for Biosil®’s other benefits?
Biosil® is backed by over 25 years and $20 million in research and development. We base our dosing directions on what we’ve learned from this research, particularly the clinical studies.
Research (including a long-term clinical study) shows that 6 drops per day is a great dose for long-term bone health.† Taking higher doses don’t yield better results with regard to bones.
Clinical studies also show that increasing the dose to 5 drops twice daily (10 drops per day total) provides significantly more dynamic results for hair, skin, nails, and joints.†

What is the difference between Biosil® Collagen Generator and Biosil® Advanced Hair + Nail Care?
Biosil’s ch-OSA® complex generates keratin, the protein that makes up most of your hair and nails, in addition to generating and protecting collagen and elastin.† Hair and nails grow from the dermal papilla and nail matrix respectively, which are both collagen-based structures. If these growth sites don’t rejuvenate properly as they lose collagen, hair becomes thinner and weaker and eventually can even stop growing. Nails become thinner, more brittle, and often develop ridges. Hair and nail growth also depend on steady blood flow through your body’s microcirculation system – another function dependent on collagen and elastin.
Hair and nails are complex structures containing many kinds of keratin protein fibers linked together. As an example, hair contains 17 kinds. Biosil’s ch-OSA® complex helps your body make keratin protein fibers and is a bond-builder helping to link the various fibers together to be strong and elastic.†

Biosil® Advanced Hair + Nail Care is formulated with the clinically proven dose of ch-OSA® enhanced with biotin, a vitamin that supports hair and nail growth by activating additional enzymes involved in metabolizing nutrients required for cell renewal and growth. Biosil® Advanced Hair + Nail Care’s combination of ch-OSA® with biotin can take your hair and nail care routine to a new, elevated level.†

What is the difference between Biosil® Collagen Generator and Biosil® Healthy Aging?
In addition to containing the same clinically proven dose of Biosil®’s ch-OSA® complex, Biosil® Healthy Aging is formulated with the essential mineral, selenium. Selenium is required to make 25 different selenoproteins, all with important enzymatic activity activities. Many of these proteins, such as glutathione peroxidases, have powerful antioxidant properties which can lower oxidative stress and regulate immune responses. Some also support metabolism while others support thyroid function. Biosil® Healthy Aging’s added selenium enhances ch-OSA’s collagen protection properties by protecting your collagen against a significantly broader range of collagen-destroying compounds.†

What is the difference between Biosil® Collagen Generator and Collagen Generator Plus?
Biosil® Collagen Generator Plus has all the benefits of our traditional Biosil® Collagen Generator Plus contains vitamin C to further enhance ch-OSA®’s collagen generation and protection properties. On the collagen generation side, vitamin C helps ch-OSA® activate and support critical collagen-generating enzymes. And on the protection side, vitamin C can help extend ch-OSA®’s abilities to protect your collagen from elevated stress hormones levels while also adding unique protection helping to protect your collagen against glycation (sugar damage) and a wide range of nasty free radicals.†
