BioSil® is proven to reduce vertical ridges and split nails
BioSil®'s patented ch-OSA® complex increases collagen production in the body, including the nailbed. More collagen means a larger luna—that white half-moon shape at the base of your fingernail—and increased keratin production. This allows the nail to grow thick and even, with a smooth, gleaming surface.
Results in as little as one month
Strong, glossy, faster-growing nails are often the first benefit people say they notice when they start taking BioSil®.†
Meanwhile, a clinical trial from the University of Bologna Medical School examined women aged 52 to 65 with rough, brittle nails. 70% of the participants had vertical ridges, and 30% also had problems with splitting nails. Within six months, 83% of the women taking BioSil® capsules twice daily had smoothed out their nail ridges, compared to the control group.†
What causes vertical ridges in nails?
Nails are made mostly of keratin, which is produced in the cells at the base of your nail. The luna is collagen-based tissue that contains cells which grow keratin and push it out to form the nail. The size and health of the luna determines the shape and strength of each nail.†
Around age 21, collagen levels begin to decline in the body, with visible effects on skin, hair, bones, and nails. In the nailbed, the collagen-based luna shrinks and produces less keratin. Nails become thinner and weaker, and commonly develop long furrows that run from the cuticle to the tip. These vertical ridges are a common sign of aging, similar to fine lines or thinning hair. If keratin production diminishes badly enough, the ridges can crack or split.†
